At St Mark’s CE Primary School, we believe that bringing learning to life helps children develop a deeper understanding of the world around them. Alongside our carefully planned curriculum, we provide children with a wide range of educational visits, visitors and specialist enrichment experiences that complement and enhance their learning.

Educational visits are carefully planned by teachers and mapped across a two-year cycle, ensuring that every child from Reception to Year 6 has the opportunity to participate in a high-quality experience each year. Our programme includes visits to places of worship, local areas of historical, geographical and cultural interest, farm visits and other experiences directly linked to the knowledge and skills children are developing in the classroom.

We also welcome a range of visitors and specialists into school, selected to enrich particular areas of learning and provide memorable opportunities for children to engage with new ideas and experiences. Children might discover prehistoric life through a dinosaur workshop, explore new worlds through immersive VR experiences, or step back in time to become Romans for the day. These experiences enable children to encounter knowledge in exciting and meaningful ways.

Whether learning beyond the school gates or welcoming the wider world into our classrooms, these experiences encourage children to be curious, ask thoughtful questions, make connections and apply their learning in different contexts. They also provide opportunities to develop important personal and social skills, including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, creativity, independence and confidence.
