At St Mark’s CE Primary School, we believe that educational visits and experiences are an important part of bringing learning to life. Carefully planned by teachers, each visit is designed to complement and enhance the curriculum, providing children with opportunities to explore concepts in meaningful, real-world contexts. These experiences allow pupils to deepen their understanding, ask questions, make connections and develop a wider appreciation of the world around them.

Our educational visits are carefully mapped across a two-year cycle to ensure that every child from Reception to Year 6 has the opportunity to participate in a high-quality experience each year. Our programme includes visits to places of worship, local areas of historical, geographical or cultural interest, and experiences such as farm visits, alongside other opportunities linked directly to the knowledge and skills children are developing in the classroom.

Educational visits provide much more than an opportunity to see new places. They enable children to apply their learning in different environments, develop independence, communication and teamwork skills, and build confidence when engaging with new experiences. Whether exploring a place of worship as part of Religious Education, investigating the local area through geography, or experiencing the sights, sounds and responsibilities of a working farm, children are encouraged to be curious, reflective and active learners.
