At St Mark’s, our Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education and Relationships and Health Education (RHE) programmes help children develop the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to flourish as individuals and as members of their community.

Through age-appropriate learning, children are supported to understand themselves and others, develop positive relationships, recognise and manage their emotions, make healthy and safe choices, and understand how to contribute positively to the world around them. Our teaching reflects our Christian vision of “Loving, Growing and Succeeding Together” and promotes the values of respect, kindness, courage, responsibility and care for others.

RHE forms an important part of our PSHE curriculum. It enables children to learn about relationships, friendships, respect, personal boundaries, physical and emotional wellbeing, and staying safe. Content is carefully planned to be age-appropriate, inclusive and sensitive, with opportunities for children to ask questions and develop the knowledge and vocabulary they need as they grow.

We work in partnership with parents and carers and recognise the important role families play in helping children develop healthy relationships, positive values and a strong sense of self.
