We are a class full of mathematicians; we crunch our numbers like we do our Cornflakes!

In Maths, we enjoy working through our Power Maths books which are designed to help us to apply our fluency skills to reasoning and problem solving questions.

Our focus this term has been fractions: equivalent fractions, converting mixed numbers and improper fractions, multiplying fractions, converting fractions to decimals .... the list is endless.

Each Friday we sit an arithmetic test and a reasoning and problem solving test. We love to see our scores increase each week!

For the first 2 weeks of this half term we studied Romeo and Juliet. We enjoyed taking part in lots of drama activities to help us immmerse ourselves in the text and help us to prepare to write a play script and retell the story. We focused on using a range of rich vocabulary and enjoyed using colloquial language.

For the rest of this half term we have studied the book Holes by Louis Sachar.

We have enjoyed getting to know the character of Stanley Yelnats and the history of his Great-Great- Grandfather as well as the infamous outlaw Kissin’ Kate Barlow. So far we have written an interview and a newspaper report based on this text. Our grammar focus has been direct and indirect dialogue and informal and formal English.
