There are 24 children in Foxes.
Spellings are given out on a Monday.
In class, children have the opportunity to practise daily and spellings tests will take place on a Friday.
Children are expected to be reading turquoise books when entering Year 2 and leaving Year 2 on white. Children are given the opportunity to change their books daily. We ask parents to comment on how they feel the child has read and understood the book to help us to support them in choosing their next text.
Children will continue their clubs from Year 1 in weekly timed tests. Children are given 3 minutes to complete their clubs which focus on simple addition bonds to 20, moving onto times tables and then Sudoko.
Taught by a coach, P.E. takes place on a Tuesday and this half-term the children are working on basic skills.
This half term our class texts are Jasper's Beanstalk and also Jack and the Beanstalk.
In reading we will be focussing on decoding the text, discussing word meanings, prediction, inference and comparing texts.
In English we will begin by writing instructions on how to plant a bean. We will begin to use imperative (bossy) verbs and adverbs (words ending in ly such as slowly, quietly) in our writing. We will then move onto setting and character descriptions.
This half term we will also begin to practise joined handwriting...which we are very excited about!
