Years 2 & 3 - Newton

Newton is a Year 2/3 class with 24 children. Miss Field is our teacher and Mrs Eaton also teaches us one session a week.

 

Important days of our week

 

P.E. - Wednesday (Please make sure your hair is tied back and no earrings, thank you).

 

Drumming- Friday

 

Spellings- Spellings are given out on a Tuesday and checked the following Monday.

 

Reading books- Children can change their reading books are often as they need to. We do ask for a adult to comment on how the child has got on. We are also encouraging children to complete comprehension activities about their book.

 

 

 

Useful links that we enjoy using at school
In Maths we have talking about temperature. We arranged words such as freezing, cold, chilly, warm, hot and scorching on a thermometer. Using a thermometer we then tested the temperature of different jugs of water which had been put in the fridge and classroom.

This half term we began with studying the author Nick Butterworth. We read many of his Percy the Park Keeper books and researched his work using the netbooks. At the end of the 3 weeks of learning we wrote our own version of The Hedgehog's balloon.

In Science this week we have been exploring circuits. Using batteries and wires we have been seeing if we can make the bulb light up or the buzzer vibrate.
This half term in Geography we are looking at the local area. We have explored aerial views of Pensnett. We have located familiar street names, the school and church.

Black Country Museum Trip
In topic this half term we have been looking at the history of television and what life was like in the past.

In Year 2/3 we have weekly drumming lessons with Mr Powell. Currently we are talking about syllables and keeping a simple beat.
