Sad farewells at St Mark's

Today - the last day of term before Christmas - has been a joyful occasion tinged with great sadness as we have had to say goodbye to two valued members of our staff team - Miss Chambers (teaching assistant) and Mr Thompson (teacher).

Miss Chambers of Butterflies class has left us today to move to another school within the Dudley Borough; this is an opportunity for her to enjoy both her role in school as a teaching assistant and her role as a mother to baby Ralph, her young son. We all wish her lots of happiness as she moves on to pastures new.

This morning, we were enjoying a wonderful Talent Show in school with our amazing children and hosted for the last time by Mr Thompson, affectionately known here as Mr T. This afternoon, we said a very sad goodbye to this amazing teacher. Mr Thompson came to St Mark's as a brand new teacher fresh out of university twelve years ago now. In those twelve years, we have watched him grow into a fantastic teacher and a much valued friend to his colleagues. His happy, cheeky, 'go lucky' ways have endeared him to us all and he will be greatly missed by his friends here at St Mark's and by all the children who have been fortunate enough to have been in his care. We are his St Mark's family.

Mr Thompson is moving on to another Dudley school after achieving a well deserved promotion. We wish him all the very best as he begins this new chapter in his life; his new school are very lucky to be welcoming him. On behalf of us all, Mr Thompson, be happy and Good Luck!
